Sometimes one dreams, sometimes one pursues a dream.

Sometime, from pursuing it so much, its becomes reality.

Paucartambo dreams its celebration.

Renews its faith and hope under the protection of Virgen del Carmen.

Paucartambo transforms, and everyone takes part, feeling and celebrating to Mamacha del Carmen, their virgin, the most beatiful of all.

This religious festival lasted years and since 1622, organized first for the mistis and then for aborigen people, its energy and strength was multiplied by miles of generations.

The music, the dance invades the streets day and night ...

There is no time for sadness, just happines all around.

PROGRAME (JULY).

Tour: Leaving around 7:30 am, return 2 days after around 7:00 pm.

First day: Leaving from ANOTHER PLANET (Calle Triunfo 120) at 7:30 am in a private minibus to the town of Paucartambo, 107 KM., from Cusco. We arrive at midday and after exploring the center, temples and all the attractions of the city we enjoy a traditional lunch.

At 2 pm, the entrace of groups of musicians and dancers starts, and we see the preparations of the Virgen. There are almost 15 dofferents groups that show their sounds and clorful costumes.

At 6 pm, we settle down in our base camp, and we ejoy one great big FIRE prepared at the lodge "Manicomio Azul" and we wait 8 pm where the groups go to the "Plaza de Armas" to burn the artificial fires.

The procession to "Tres Cruces" start this day at night (Aprox., 3:00 am in the morning).

In July, the Sun in the orient region, shows a natural spectacle with a wide and unique variety of colours, forms and tones that can be seen from the "Balcony of Akhanacu". (Only in Japan and here it is possible to see the phenomenal of The Three Crosses of Gold).

TRES CRUCES DE ORO

Second day: 7 am "Tres Cruces" - Breakfast and then a walk to the sanctuary. Its exquisite landscape and a natural balcony to the jungle.

8:30 am Return to Paucartambo where the celebration starts at the streets and in the main square.

10:00 am Start the entrance of the groups of musicians and dancers which go to the temple and offer gifts to the altar of "Mamacha del Carmen".

1:00 pm We have a lunch in Tres Cruces and return back to Paucartambo where a solemn procesión starts, and the real party begins in the streets and the main square.

8:00 pm We have dinner and then return to enjoy the BIG PARTY.

Last day: Breakfast and after the benedictine mass, a second procession os Virgen del Carmen goes to the Carlos III bridge where the population and the visitors are blessed.

Finally the fighting between "chunchos" and "qollas" happends.

1:00 pm We have lunch and after this we return back Cusco, in order to arrive at 7 pm.
